Lake Jesup
Lake Jesup
Too shallow for development,
when every other inch of greater Orlando is built up,
Lake Jesup is a haven for birds and alligators.
Nearby, Route 17-92, home to the dusty Flea Market
with rave clothing, funnel cakes, incense
also leads to a Bald Cypress, the Senator,
a seedling before Christ was born,
now burned down. I never saw at all.
We drove over Lake Jesup many times,
a silent expanse of water and sky.
The vastness mirrored by the quiet inside.
We were focused on different things.
His disappearing golf career. We drove
to the Spiritualist Camp Cassadaga
for a reading. She said second marriages for us both.
