Christmas 2020

This year adds new meaning

     to the carol, Silent Night

No singing reindeer, no crying toddlers

   We are hunkered down, stirring the fire

Uncle Joe has passed

   between the conjunction of

Saturn and Jupiter

      and what is between

      here and what is lost

We go forward carrying

   health and hope,

   old traditions and new ways of singing

   

Still the night,

holding on to what

   is nigh and good.
